Mena Alexandra Suvari, born on 13 February 1979 in the USA is an actress, fashion designer and a model. In 1990, shortly after beginning her career as a model, Suvari began acting in TV shows such as Boy Meets World. The actress made her debut in film in 1997's drama film Nowhere. Following her appearance of American Beauty (for which she received an award from the BAFTA Award) and American Pie which attracted her more attention, she made her transition into major roles. She's appeared alongside American Pie's Co-Star Jason Biggs in Loser (2000) before starring as the lead character on the screen in Sugar & Spice (2001). The year 2002 saw her starred in Spun the independent drama and in 2004's thriller Trauma. The other films she appeared in include HBO's series Six Feet Under. In 2008, Suvari was cast in a variety of films, including Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh as well as the film adaption of The Garden of Eden. Suvari has appeared in many fashion magazines and blogs as well as Vogue. She is a Lancome model and appears on the advertisements printed of Lancome Paris Adaptive. She is a long-time campaigner for and a supporter of the highly regarded African relief group, known as the African Medical and Research Foundation. In addition, she has been involved with issues of empowerment for women, as well as charitable organizations which promote research into breast cancer as well as End Violence Against Women.
